Installation of 113th President T. Andrew Brown
Nearly 500 attorneys, members of the judiciary, business and community leaders, and family and friends of T. Andrew Brown joined in welcoming the MCBA's 113th President along with the Honorable Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of New York.
A grand time was had by all, as the Honorable Roy W. King, introduced Andrew and provided a historical perspective on African-Americans in the Rochester legal community. Following Judge King, Judge Kaye installed Andrew as the 2008-09 MCBA president, as he took his oath with one hand and held his daughter, Alina with the other.
Andrew, a 1984 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and a 1981 graduate of Syracuse University, practices in New York state in the areas of civil litigation and employment law, providing counsel to individuals and businesses of all sizes. Andrew began practicing law with Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle (now Nixon Peabody) in New York City, later relocating to Rochester with the firm. Prior to launching Brown & Hutchinson in 1994, he also served as Deputy County Attorney for Monroe County representing civil litigation matters and serving as an advisor to the County Executive and other senior county officials.
Andrew, and members of the Bar, also thanked Thomas G. Smith, outgoing president, for his year of service as President. Additionally, Harold A. Kurland will serve as President-Elect of the MCBA for the 2008-09 year, assuming the role of President in July 2009.
