Monroe County Bar Association
The procedural and substantive issues associated with claims against municipalities can ensnare even experienced attorneys. This presentation will help show you how to recognize and safely navigate your client through many of the pitfalls that can arise when suing municipalities. The Hon. Debra A. Martin, New York State Court of Claims Judge, will be joined by two experienced practitioners, Michele Crain, Esq., attorney for the County of Monroe, and Spencer L. Ash, Esq., attorney for the City of Rochester to discuss topics including the Court of Claims Act, the General Municipal Law’s notice of claim requirement, and sovereign immunity. This is a rare opportunity to hear those ruling on or defending these types of claims provide invaluable and useful direction and insight for both the plaintiff’s bar and the defense bar.Expand summary
