Join us to celebrate the 19th Amendment and what it has meant for our democracy, and to welcome our new endeavor to further the role of women in the legal profession. Catherine Cerulli will present on the national state of women in the law, including comparisons to other fields for which women have comprised 50 percent of the professional graduate schools for decades. She will discuss the voting trends of women, how things have changed since the passage of the 19th Amendment, and how we can advance the state of women in law as constituents, practitioners, and those that move through the system as victims and perpetrators. She will read some of Susan B. Anthony's letters and discuss issues relevant to women in politics and how things have changed - or haven't. This summer also heralds the inauguration of the MCBA's Commission to Advance and Support Women in the Law. Jill Cicero, its first chair, will describe its goals and lay out plans for the coming year.
