Board Service 101: Fundamentals of Non-Profit Boards and Governance

Date Published: October 30, 2024

Summary

Nonprofits are crucial to the community and “business” fabric of Western New York.   As such, Board service is a great way for attorneys to give back to their communities, while at the same time building relationships and gaining the skills and insights required to successfully serve a large part of our region’s legal client base.

Built around our experiences and the questions that we receive working with nonprofit Boards and executive leadership every day, this program will address:

•    Benefits and ethical considerations for attorneys serving on Boards
•    How to evaluate potential Board service opportunities
•    An introduction to the law of Boards, through the lens of a typical Board meeting
•    An overview of the fiduciary duties of board members and officers

This one-hour CLE program will provide 1.0 NY Law Practice Management credit and is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys.

Presented by Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC attorneys:
